Avery's Sweet Shop

The party was a huge success and I somehow found the time and energy to make everything that I wanted to for her "Sweet Shop" spread and then some. I was so happy with how everything turned out.

It started with an idea to do something with cupcakes and took off from there. As Travis says, I have a tendancy to go a little nuts when it comes to party planning, but what can I say - I love every minute of it. I am by far my own worst enemy.
Every detail was account for from the tablescape to the homemade treats. I even had a dress made for Avery, a better picture of that to come later.

All in all, it was a great way to celebrate Avery's first birthday. I think she'll enjoy these pictures in the years to come.

The cupcake tower is a great find, I was so excited to finally find it after seeing it on someone's blog. I lined it with scrapbook paper and ribbon and added Avery's tutu to the bottom of it. Expect to see this at the all the parties to come, it is so versatile and I can change out the ribbon and paper each time.

She was so cute and methodically ate the icing on the cake without making too big of a mess of course.

Homemade treats - candy coated pretzel rods for all the grown-up party guests.

Goodies for all the kiddies - metal tins from Target's Easter stuff, cupcake magnets, stickers, candy watches and BUBBLES
I'll post the video of Avery eating her smash cake soon.

Happy 1st Birthday Avery

As many of you know, we celebrated Avery's birthday a week late since her birthday was the same day as Dave and Ashley's wedding (May 30th). It was a fun day and Travis and I joked that it will be hard to live up to the party Reid and Sharon Conklin threw her for her first birthday.

Here are a few of the photos I took from the wedding, I didn't take any and am relying on everyone else for some great shots. I failed miserably and didn't even get one of the four of us all dressed up. Everyone had a great time. Brock was in all his glory the whole weekend as the center of attention - sorry Dave and Ashley. He was such a good little ring bear and made it down the aisle, we were so proud of him.

This is from her actual birthday, we let her dig into a cake that morning. She got scared when she touch the candle and bent her head down (as she does when she gets mad) and lit her hat on fire. Great way to start the birthday and wedding day.

The rehearsal dinner was great and we heard tons of good speeches. I was happy that everyone liked the video I had worked months on. Brock got so tired that around 11, he said he must lay down, see below.

I don't have any pictures really from wedding even though I was a bridesmaid and Brock was the ring bear. Here are a few that we took that day.

Bathing Beauty

Lake Time

It's finally time to enjoy the lake again. You forget how much you miss the watersports and pool during the winter. Here in Georgia, we're lucky to begin enjoying summer activities the beginning of May through the end of October sometimes. We went to the lake this past weekend and enjoyed our first of the season boating and watersports.

Brock took his first tubing ride and loved it. Avery was able to get in and enjoy the pool, she is already a water bug. Are you at all surprised? Anyway, we look foward to a long summer with lots of weekends at the lake lounging by the pool and enjoying the lake.
