Happy Mother's Day

Let me tell you just a little about my mom - in one word, she's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I just hope that I am one-tenth of the mom to Brock and Avery as she was and is to Jeff, David and I. It was never until I was a mom myself that I truly understood all she did or why she did it. She is the rock of our family and is the reason we all turned out the way we did. I don't know how she did it all those years. As most of you know, my family moved around A LOT and with my dad traveling the majority of the time, her kids kept her on her toes and busy and she did an AMAZING job.

My kids are so lucky to have her in their lives - honestly, I don't know what I would do as a mom without her. She's my nanny two days a week, but so much more than that. She's the reason I'm able to go to work with piece of mind - if Travis and I aren't able to be home with my kids - she's the next best thing (maybe even better than me). My kids adore her and think she hung the moon. She's there for me in every mom a mom can be and she would drop everything to help me out. She is the most selflish, caring, independent, funny, geniune and loving woman I know and I'm so lucky that she's my mom.

First Haircut

I've been dreading this day since I first laid eyes on her beautiful curls. Avery is one month away from being two and has never had a haircut, that's right. So I figured it was about time, but my biggest fear was that she was going to lose those crazy curls. We went to Snip-Its this morning and took the plunge. I feel like she looks so different, but in reality, she doesn't. The curls are just a little shorter and as a result are TIGHTER. She definitely looks like little Annie now. I also see a huge resemblence to my dad's mom.

The lollipop did the trick and she sat there good as can be and got her first haircut.

The finished product, these curls are even more springy now that they've been cut.

Where do they learn it?

I wonder sometimes where my kids pick up the things they say. Just this morning we were in the car and Brock heard the djs on the radio start cheering about something and he put his hands up in the air and yelled "MAKE SOME NOISE." Now typically this is only heard at basketlball games or other sporting events, which we really haven't been to any major sporting events this year with the kids. Maybe he heard it at daycare, because I certainly now that we don't go around the house saying "MAKE SOME NOISE!"

Spring

Nothing is better than ice cream on a nice day! I love this time of year, minus the pollen. The weather gets warmer and we're finally able to enjoy the OUTDOORS and all the fun there is to be had at the LAKE.

Dying Easter Eggs at the Lake - this has become a tradition the past few years and the kids have so much fun.

Happy Birthday to Me!

3-1 that used to sound so old and I'll be honest when I saw that this birthday was much harder than turning 30 last year. Something about being another year closer to 40 freaks me out. We had a wonderful birthday weekend and Travis kept reminding me. We both took Friday off and headed to the lake on Thursday night after work. It couldn't have been nicer - GORGEOUS 75 degree SUNNY weather....the kids made me a cake and we enjoyed some quality time as a family.

Saturday we headed back to Atlanta for Brock's soccer game and almost everyone was there to watch him, which he absolutely loved.

Travis took me to Taste in Roswell, http://www.tasteofroswell.com/ for dinner Saturday night and it was delicious. Sunday, my actual birthday we went to brunch after church with my family at Relish, http://www.relishgoodfood.com/.

All in all, it was a great birthday.

Little Miss Independent

She has arrived, little Miss Independent that is. Avery has mastered the word NO and doesn't want mommy or daddy's help with anything anymore. She wants to get herself dressed (doesn't know how), put on her shoes, her coat and just about everything else.

Where did my baby go?

Cousins

We are all enjoying getting to know Little Lars (poor guy, I think he's stuck with that nickname for life) as he's growing every day. It is hard for us to get out to see him with full-time jobs and two kids, but we try to at least see him once a week or a few times a month. The kids adore him and I know can't wait until he starts to interact with them.
